Kara Beckett, Visual Artist

Capturing a moment. Creating a memory.

Artist's Biography

Kara Beckett is an emerging Canadian portrait artist whose paintings consist of soft pastel, oil and acrylic mediums.  The essential combination of tools to create her artwork are sketches, photo references and one-on-one meetings with her subjects.

Born in 1971, Kara was encouraged to express herself in art and music from an early age.  Sketching and creative arts have been instilled in Kara throughout the years as she has always loved to express ideas and interpret life around her through the arts.  Visual art has become her primary medium of choice for exploring the beauty of God's creation. The passion that Kara has to this end is evident within her work.

Kara's 12 years of experience within the Interior Design field has complemented and strengthened her work as an artist. Bold, energetic and captivating, her paintings exude warmth and vitality.  Whether capturing a likeness or interpreting a feeling, Kara hopes to engage the viewer in the experience of the moment.  "I find her work has real soul. The people feel like they are real people. I could do a lot of great stuff with this."...Steve, CD jacket/graphic designer for Frank MacKay, recording artist / Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Beginning in 2004 in support of a non-profit organization, Kara painted a number of musicians that performed at the Cochrane Valley Folk Club. Residing in Calgary, AB. with her husband and children, she continues to gather her ideas and represent them on canvas in her home studio.
